Dragonlance, the New Heroes of the Lance
Red robed wizard of Lunitari
Quenthalos stands on the brink. Continual failure and loss weighs heavily on his heart. The first came at a young age. Quenthalos had traveled with his uncle, a well respected wizard of Solinari, to Wayreth to become an apprentice and study the arts. He was quickly accepted, and began training in earnest. Only a few short months later, however, he received news that his entire village had been wiped out by bandits. To cope with the pain of the loss of his family, and the frustration at not having been there to help them Quenthalos delved deeper into his studies. In the following years Quenthalos met a young human woman and fell in love. She was not nearly as talented in sorcery, but their bond grew in spite of this and they eventually wed. A failed experiment years later in their home took her life, and once again Quenthalos was faced with the fact that he had failed to protect those he loved. Even worse this time – it was his failure to master his arts that directly had lead to his wife’s death. Decades later standing side by side with his uncle Quenthalos faced down the hordes of Draconians invading his elven village. This time he was not helpless, but it was not enough. The entire arsenal of his powers could not stop the horde of dragon-like beasts and humans. After throwing every spell he could at the beasts his uncle fell to the ground fatigued, and a moment’s hesitation by Quenthalos at killing a human gave the enemy enough time to place a blade between his uncle’s ribs. Frustration and rage took over and he unleased the last of his powers at the human, slaying him, before fleeing with the few elves still alive. Now he has slain more than beasts, he has killed a human, and everyone he loves is dead. Failure and hesitation are no longer options. Quenthalos must succeed in helping the remnants of his elven home, no matter the cost, or all of his loss is for nothing.
